Abul (Yabolu) A Village Immersed in New Hope

From the Field - May 29th,2025
Abul Village—also known locally as Yabolu—is a remote community located in Western Bahr el Ghazal State, South Sudan, along the road to Deim Zubeir and Raja.
You will not find it on any map.🗺️
The only Church is a Catholic center that has a Priest stop in once a month.✝️
There is no electricity, no running water. 🪣
God's Providence
In 2024, I visited Abul for the first time. What was meant to be a brief stop turned into a three-day stay due to a vehicle breakdown and no mobile network.
At first, I was frustrated. But as I waited, I began to sense that God had a greater purpose for my delay.
As the days passed and I listened to the stories of the villagers, my heart was stirred.
Again and again, they shared two simple but profound dreams for their village. They dreamed one day they would:
- Have a School for their Children 👨🏾👩🏾👧🏿👦🏽
- Have a Church to Worship God ⛪
Their dreams were not just about buildings, but about places of learning, worship, and transformation.
Places where their children could grow in knowledge and faith and introduce a future of hope for Abul.
Hope Encounter's Fourth School
By God’s grace, and together with Brother Peter Kek, Brother John Paul, and Brother Nyangwa, we returned to Abul in March 2025 and planted our fourth school/church - Abul Hope Christian School and Abul Hope Bible Church.

The school has opened with three teachers (Teachers: One high school graduate and Two eight-grade graduates) and 32 kindergarten students. 📚
Our students include 13 girls and 19 boys.
This is a milestone in a village where, until now, only one girl had ever attended a school.
God's Blessings Continue
From one School/Church in Wau, God has now grown three more Schools/Churches.
We believe He is just getting started.
As long as what we do is for His glory, there is no limit. 💪🏼
Please keep Abul Hope Christian School and Abul Hope Bible Church in your prayers as we walk this journey together.
