From our continuing blog posts, we hope you can see the opportunity there is to impact South Sudan for Christ through our School and Church Planting Ministries, our discipleship training programs, and our Evangelism teams.
In just two years, we have planted four Schools, four Churches, and shared the message of Christ with hundreds - and we are just getting started!
God has been GOOD!
So Why Do We Need Help?
With things going so well, you might ask why we need your help. There are two main reasons:
- So we can open more schools and Churches, disciple more people and fund more evangelism teams.
- So we can pay a full time staff person to coordinate our current programs and facilitate further growth at The Hope Encounter

Yes, that is me, Abraham Deng, in the picture above. While I currently drive a tractor-trailer rig 60-65 hours a week to support my family, my heart is always with my people in South Sudan.
In 2025, The Hope Encounter is hoping to start my transition away from driving to working as our first full-time staff person.
We realize this process will take many months, possibly years, but the more time I can work at The Hope Encounter training personnel, discipling our volunteers, and raising funds to pay for our teachers and pastors, the more Jesus we can share in South Sudan.
